LOST

Candace Mathers
School of Justice Studies

Oh, tell me, what is this life that I live,
Bound by the constraints of desire and fate?
Seeking answers to questions so profound,
In this intricate web of love and hate.

I search for meaning in a world so vast,
Where shadows dance in the depths of my mind.
Whispers of dreams once held close to my heart,
Now echo softly, leaving traces behind.

The sun kisses the earth with golden light,
As morning awakens the slumbering day.
I watch as the flowers begin to bloom,
Their vibrant colors a sweet display.

But amidst this beauty, a darkness lurks,
The incessant noise of a restless world.
Where progress clashes with tradition’s hold,
Leaving us lost, confused, and unfurled.

The voices are many, each one unique,
Yet all yearning for the same sense of peace.
We strive to find harmony in our souls,
But find it elusive, a fleeting release.

We build our castles upon shifting sands,
As time sweeps away all that we hold dear.
Yet, deep in our hearts, a flicker remains,
A glimmer of hope that eases our fear.

For life is a journey, a never-ending quest,
To unravel the mysteries that lie within.
To seek solace in moments of joy and pain,
And find the courage to let our souls begin.

So, let us embrace this chaotic dance,
Of love and loss, of highs and lows.
For in the depths of our struggles and tears,
A seed of resilience graciously grows.

And though we may stumble along the way,
Tripped up by failures and shattered dreams,
We rise again, casting fear aside,
To bask in the sunlight's warming beams.

For it is in these moments of vulnerability,
That we find strength in our shared humanity.
So, let us journey forth, hand in hand,
Writing our own stories of eternal longevity.
